What Changes Compared With a Standard Pod

An accessible pod is drawn from the space a wheelchair user needs, then everything else is placed around it.

Larger floor

The interior must hold the turning space plus the desk, so it is larger than a one-person phone booth.

Wider door

A door with at least 32 in (815 mm) clear width, or the width your rules require.

Low threshold

No step at the entrance: 1/2 in (13 mm) high maximum.

Desk with knee space

A work surface at 28–34 in (710–865 mm) with clear knee space below.

Controls within reach

Switches and sockets placed 15–48 in (380–1220 mm) above the floor.

Easy door hardware

Usable without tight grasping, mounted 34–48 in (865–1220 mm) high.
