Office Pod Delivery Terms: What Does a DDP Quote Include?

A DDP quote can cover delivery of an office pod to an agreed destination with import clearance, but it does not, by itself, promise unloading, moving packages inside a building, assembling the pod or connecting it to site power. Before comparing prices, name the delivery point and put each site service on its own quotation line. MobileX’s published model prices are EXW references, not delivered-and-installed offers.

Start with the place, not the word “door”

Under ICC’s explanation of Incoterms 2020 EXW and DDP, DDP places transport to the named destination and import formalities on the seller. The goods are made available on the arriving vehicle, ready for unloading. The buyer normally takes on unloading risk; the sale contract can set out who pays for any unloading service. The exact named point matters: a building loading bay, a ground-floor reception and an upstairs installation room are not interchangeable descriptions.

Ask for the rule, named place and version to be written together in the offer, for example “DDP [agreed receiving point], Incoterms 2020.” That example is a way to describe a quotation, not a MobileX offer for any particular destination. In some markets a seller may not be able to carry out import formalities, so the available term must be agreed for the actual order.

Separate transport from site work

A useful office-pod quotation distinguishes four handoffs:

1. Products and packages: identify the model, quantity, selected furniture and electrical options, package count, outside dimensions and gross weights for the proposed shipment. A product image or reference packing volume is not a shipment packing list.
2. Transport and import: state the Incoterms rule and named point, then show the freight, clearance, duties and taxes covered by that proposal. An EXW unit reference and a DDP delivered total do not have the same scope.
3. Receiving and movement: specify who unloads the vehicle and whether anyone will move the packages from the receiving point to the pod position. Access, lifts, doorways and site restrictions can change this work even when the destination city is unchanged.
4. Assembly and connections: identify any assembly and building-side electrical work as separate services, with the responsible party and site conditions stated. Neither service follows automatically from DDP.

Compare two offers without hiding a missing service

Suppose the same pod configuration is offered once as an EXW factory reference and once to a named destination under DDP. This is a hypothetical comparison, not a customer order or a MobileX price commitment. The EXW amount is not the cheaper installed option simply because it excludes onward transport and destination work. The DDP total is not an installed price simply because it reaches the destination.

Put the two offers on the same product, quantity and currency basis. Add only the separate amounts needed to make each pod usable at the site, and mark any unquoted amount as open. In particular, show unloading, internal movement, assembly and electrical connection instead of treating them as zero. Agree what happens at handover

The final quotation should say which documents accompany the shipment, where receipt is recorded and how visible transit damage or missing packages are reported.
