Office Pods for Home: Sizes, Prices and Setup Guide
A one-person office pod gives you a quiet place for calls without giving up a whole room. MobileX MP1 takes 1 m² of floor (1000 x 1000 x 2200 mm), plugs into a wall socket wired for your country and assembles from six main panels in about an hour. In a MobileX factory test it was about 35 dB quieter inside than outside. EXW reference price: USD 1,380 (July 2026). For the main types and their uses, see what an office pod is.
Keep a spare room that already works well; consider a pod when you need a separate call space inside a room the family still uses.

Which size fits a home office?
Start with MP1 when your main desk can stay outside and you need somewhere to take calls. Compare MP1+ when you want more room for seated work. MP2 suits a shared conversation with another person.
The prices below use the same reference basis as the opening figure.
| Model | Exterior W x D x H | Closed footprint | Starting use | Reference price | Furniture |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MP1 | 1000 x 1000 x 2200 mm | 1.00 m² / 10.76 sq ft | One person taking calls | USD 1,380 | One desk and one seat included |
| MP1+ | 1200 x 1200 x 2200 mm | 1.44 m² / 15.50 sq ft | Roomier one-person seated work | USD 1,650 | One desk and one seat included |
| MP2 | 2000 x 1000 x 2200 mm | 2.00 m² / 21.53 sq ft | Two-person discussion | USD 2,380 | Sofa/table package quoted separately |
MP1+ adds 0.44 m² of floor area and USD 270 to the product reference price. That extra space is worth considering if you plan to bring more of your desk work inside. Add the door opening and room access space to each closed footprint before choosing a position.
The typical MP1 and MP1+ desktop height is 760 mm; custom height and depth can be agreed during manufacture.
Mark your laptop or monitor, keyboard, mouse and chair on the furnished plan. Leave room to pull the chair back and walk out. For two unrelated calls at the same time, choose separate spaces; MP2 gives two people one shared interior.
Compare the office phone booth range, then check the MP1 and MP1+ packages against your equipment.
Will it fit through the route and under the ceiling?
Measure the lowest beam or light fitting as well as the ceiling. The finished pod is 2200 mm high, and assembly needs space above it.
- Mark the footprint on the floor, keeping access to room doors, windows and cupboards.
- Trace the route from the unloading point to the room. Measure doorways, tight turns, stairs and elevator limits.
- Compare that route with the order’s crate and largest panel dimensions, including space to turn each part.
- Mark the open door and occupied chair on the room plan. Choose a position that keeps household routes clear.
- Resolve floor capacity, assembly headroom and any electrical work before ordering for that position.
Gross shipping weights, including packaging, are 360 kg for MP1, 410 kg for MP1+ and 520 kg for MP2. Use these for transport planning, and give the building professional the installed weight and support layout for an upstairs floor check.
Ask us for the clear door width, minimum room height, largest panel or crate dimensions and assembly crew size for your model before you order.
How quiet will it be at home?
In a MobileX factory test, sound outside the pod measured about 80 dB and inside about 45 dB, a difference of about 35 dB, with the door closed and fan running. This was a factory level-difference test, not a laboratory rating. For a rough everyday reference, the Canadian Space Agency’s noise chart lists a vacuum cleaner at about 80 dBA, normal conversation at about 60 dBA and a quiet office at about 40 dBA.
The closed enclosure helps reduce the distraction of conversation and television outside. Deep bass and vibration travelling through the floor are harder to control, so choose a position away from loud speakers or vibrating equipment.
Family members outside may still hear your voice, especially close to the door or in a quiet room at night. Speak at a normal level, use headphones and place the pod away from sleeping areas to reduce disturbance. MP1’s fan noise is specified at about 30 dB.

How do power, lighting and ventilation work?
Lighting, ventilation and sockets are included in the standard pod package. Specify the destination’s voltage and plug type when ordering. US configurations use 110–120 V and UL/ETL-certified Siemens or Philips switches and sockets.
MP1 has one fan rated at 80 m³/h, with a nominal air-exchange interval of about 2–3 minutes when the door is closed. Keep the air openings clear and the surrounding room ventilated at a comfortable temperature. Ask for the fan specification for MP1+ or MP2 when comparing those models.
An occupancy sensor is optional. It may be convenient for frequent short visits; a simple light-and-fan routine can be enough for one regular user. Check applicable local electrical and building requirements before installation, using a qualified electrician for changes to the room supply.
Is a spare room, living room or garage the better location?
Choose around your actual calling hours. A quiet morning corner beside the television can become a busy evening spot.
| Location | Keep it on the shortlist when | Choose another solution when |
|---|---|---|
| Spare room | The pod preserves another use or separates callers sharing the room | The room already handles calls well and the pod removes useful desk space |
| Living room | The open door, occupied chair and household route fit together | Calls compete with rest, television or the room’s only walkway |
| Converted garage | The space is dry, conditioned and suitable for indoor work | Moisture, heat, cold or fumes still need resolving |
Standard office pods are indoor products. For a garage, first use the garage workspace checks and the indoor versus outdoor guide to decide whether the host space is ready.
What should a delivered quote include?
Start with the model and furniture you need, then compare quotations for the same destination and delivery work. Standard sample or pilot purchases can start at one unit.
MP1 and MP1+ include a desk and one seat. MP2’s sofa/table package is a separate option. List your own screen, computer and network equipment separately so the order clearly identifies what will arrive.
For US orders, MobileX can quote DDP including sea freight, import duties and delivery to the agreed address. Name unloading, carrying upstairs, room positioning and assembly in the quote as separate included or excluded services. This makes it easier to compare offers and avoid paying twice for work already included. The US buying guide explains the delivery route.
How is the pod delivered, assembled and moved later?
MobileX ships office pods in wooden crates. Plan an unloading point and a clear route to the room before the shipment arrives.

The pod assembles from six main panels with 12 structural connection screws, following video guidance. The indicative assembly time is about one hour; allow additional time for unloading, carrying the parts and preparing the room.

- Prepare the agreed unloading location and access route.
- Check the crate and delivered parts against the order.
- Follow the MobileX assembly video using the crew and tools specified for your model.
- Check the door, light, fan, sockets and furnished layout before use.
The design supports video-guided assembly without a specialist pod installer. Optional factory-fitted casters are available even for a single-unit order and can help with a suitable same-floor move. For stairs or a move to another building, compare dismantling and reassembly using the pod relocation guide.
Standard production is typically 15–20 days after confirmation; custom production takes approximately 30 days. Add freight, customs and final delivery to build the arrival schedule for your home.
What else do home buyers ask?
Can I use an office pod for video meetings?
Yes. Choose a layout that fits your laptop, camera view and lighting, and check the network connection at that position.
Do I need an electrician?
No new wiring is usually needed when the supplied plug and voltage match a suitable existing outlet. Use an electrician when the room supply needs altering.
Will the pod feel stuffy or hot?
It can if the surrounding room is hot or poorly ventilated. Start with a comfortable room and keep the pod’s air openings clear.
Can I take it when I move house?
Yes, the panel construction supports dismantling and reassembly. Check the next home’s route and arrange handling and reassembly before moving it.
Is the smallest model always the cheapest practical option?
No. MP1 saves room when your main desk stays outside; compare MP1+ when the full work setup needs to come inside.
How soon could I receive one?
Standard production typically takes 15–20 days after confirmation, followed by shipping and delivery. Ask for an arrival schedule tied to your model and destination.
